Kate French clinches the Gold in modern pentathlon

With a dominant run in the concluding laser run sealed the win for Team GB’s Kate French. Taking the tally of gold medals to 18 in the Tokyo 2020 Games. The Olympic champion of the modern pentathlon, Kate French smashed in the final discipline of the modern pentathlon to give GB their first gold in the women’s event since Steph Cook in 2000.

Starting the laser run in fifth, French fought her way back to the first and grabbed the gold. while Lithuania’s Laura Asadauskaite finished in silver-medal position with Hungary’s Sarolta Kovacs won the bronze. French had finished fifth in Rio 2016 and after maintaining consistency throughout all events, she even won the riding event with a perfect clear round to finish at the top of the scoreboard.
